Eligibility

You don’t need to be an ISHMPR member to enter.  However, members do get a break on entry fees.  So you’ll want to complete your 2009 Membership Registration today.  Click here to complete your application online.  You may pay online, or print an invoice and mail your payment. We’ll honor the discounted entry fee if you complete your online application and your payment is received by July 31. 

To qualify for the membership discount, an ISHMPR member must have participated in the creation, development or implementation of the entry. 

This annual competition is open to all hospitals, healthcare systems, health-related organizations, agencies and freelance professionals located in Illinois. All agencies (within Illinois and out-of-state) should submit their entries on behalf of the Illinois healthcare organization(s) they represent.  ISHMPR members may enter projects with the assistance of outside agencies as long as the member played a role in the development and implementation of the project.

Entry Period and Categories

Eligible projects must have been completed and/or implemented between May 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.  Any entry, or portion thereof, submitted in a previous Pinnacle Awards Program is not eligible and will be disqualified.

Projects may not be entered in more than one category.  Select the category that best fits the project.  Only pieces of a project may be entered in another category.  For example, a radio spot from a Total Advertising Campaign could also be entered separately as a single radio commercial.  A separate Entry Form must be submitted for each project.

Preparing Your Entry

Provide two copies of each entry.

Each entry must:

  • Include (1) copy of an Entry Form secured to the outside of the entry.
  • A BRIEF description of the entry, including highlights of planning, implementation and results.  Should not exceed 300 words. 
  • Be submitted in a pocket folder, 3-ring binder, report cover or envelope.
  • Include print artwork on a CD as a PDF. No single PDF may exceed 10MB (should be less than 2MB whenever possible).
  • Include audio material on a CD in MP3 format.  No single MP3 may exceed 3MB (should  be less than 1MB whenever possible).
  • Include all video material in MPEG format.  No single MPEG may exceed 10 MB (should be less than 5MB whenever possible)
  • DVDs and CDs must be clearly identified with the entrant’s name, organization, award category and project title.
  • Include payment of entry fees.
  • Entries must be postmarked or include a shipment date no later than July 31.


The Pinnacle Awards Committee will disqualify any entry not prepared to specifications.  The Pinnacle Awards Committee reserves the right to reclassify any entry determined to be entered in a wrong category.  Entry fees will not be refunded.  Materials will not be returned.  ISHMPR may retain entries for display purposes, including posting at www.ishmpr.org.    

Awards

One (1) Award of Excellence and one (1) Award of Merit will be given in each Award category by hospital size: 100 beds or less; 101-299 beds; 300 or more beds.  In addition, all entries may qualify for Honorable Mention in their given award category.
