FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Lake Forest Hospital Again Named #1 Consumer Choice in Lake, Kenosha Counties
For the second year in a row, a consumer survey by National Research
Corporation (NRC) names Lake Forest Hospital “Lake-Kenosha’s Most
Preferred Hospital: Overall Quality & Image.” This #1 Consumer
Choice award for 2006/07 is based on the responses of 720 people in
Lake and Kenosha counties who rated Lake Forest Hospital:
“Receiving this tremendous honor again is rewarding to me because it’s an affirmation by consumers of our commitment to providing the best patient care possible,” says President/CEO Thomas J. McAfee. “That commitment includes a relentless quest to maintain and improve our performance.” The award identifies hospitals which health-care consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in 190 markets throughout the U.S. This is the 11th year NRC has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing quality health-care services and the second year that the Lake/Kenosha county market has been surveyed. “Consumers play an increasing role in selecting their health-care facilities and services,” says NRC Chief Executive Officer Michael D. Hays. “As more information on the quality of health care is made publicly available, we expect this trend to increase. These organizations are selected for the Consumer Choice Awards by the community residents they serve. We are pleased to honor these facilities for their dedication to quality health care in the eyes of their patients.” Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s annual NRC Healthcare Market Guide® study, the largest and most comprehensive study of its kind in the nation. No other study used to measure hospital performance and preferences contains more consumer responses than NRC’s study. Other 2006/07 Consumer Choice award winners include Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Froedtert Memorial Hospital and Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center (co-winners) in Milwaukee and Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Ill. Of the 3,000 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA’s), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The 2006/07 NRC Healthcare Market Guide study surveyed over 200,000 households representing 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. The study has a margin of error of + or – 0.2 percent at a national level.
