Rush-Copley Medical Center Receives Approval for Expansion
Rush-Copley Medical Center today received approval for expansion of its
medical/surgical unit from the Illinois Health Facilities Planning
Board (IHFPB). The approval of the Certificate of Need came from the
IHFPB in Springfield. The million project will result in a 26-bed
expansion of the existing medical/surgical unit. Construction of the
unit, which will take place on the second floor of the hospital, is
scheduled to begin during 2006.
“We are excited to move forward and make this project a reality,”
said Barry C. Finn, president and CEO of Rush-Copley. “This expansion
will allow us to respond to the growing needs of patients in our
service area with enhanced facilities and the quality healthcare they
have come to expect from Rush-Copley.”
This project will allow Rush-Copley to continue to meet the
healthcare needs of its patients as occupancy rates continue to
increase. In just the last year, occupancy rates have consistently
averaged above 90 percent. The addition is part of the strategic
expansion plan created more than 10 years ago when Rush-Copley was
built.
