Rush-Copley Medical Center Names John Diederich as Chief Operating Officer
Rush-Copley Medical Center has named John Diederich, MA, MBA, as Senior
Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer. His most recent
position was Vice President, Ancillary Operations. In his new role,
Diederich will oversee clinical, ancillary and support operations and
services at Rush-Copley. In addition to the daily operations of the
hospital, John will have administrative responsibility of over
million in medical center expansion projects scheduled over the next
three years.
Diederich, 37, has been at Rush-Copley since he was 16-years-old,
working in the kitchen at the original hospital on Lincoln Avenue.
After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Arts
degree in hospital and health administration and a Master of Business
Administration degree from the University of Iowa, Diederich returned
to his hometown of Aurora to begin his professional career at
Rush-Copley. After successfully working his way up in departments
ranging from quality improvement and finance to scheduling and patient
accounts, Diederich reached the executive suite at the age of 33.
His family, who brought him to the hospital as a child, helped
influence Diederich’s career in healthcare. His grandmother was an OB
nurse in Aurora for 40 years and his mother, an environmental services
manager, has been employed at Rush-Copley for 30 years.
“With this type of legacy, I could not picture myself doing
anything else but working in a hospital,“ said Diederich. “For a time,
I thought of becoming a physician, but the business side of healthcare
really became my passion.”
As a life-long Aurora resident, Diederich is very active in his
community. He is a Kiwanis Club of Aurora Board Member and Foundation
Chairman, a Marmion Academy Alumni Association Board Member, an Aurora
Historical Society Member, a member of the Greater Aurora Chamber of
Commerce, and an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and
School. Diederich, his wife and their three children make their home in
Aurora.
Fulfilling Diederich’s role as Vice-President, Ancillary Services
is Nancy Wilson, R.N., BSN, MBA. Most recently, Wilson served as
Assistant Vice President, Ancillary Services. In her new role, Wilson’s
primary responsibilities include Emergency Services, the Heart &
Vascular Institute, Pharmacy, Hospitality Services and the Yorkville
campus operations. As a leader of emergency services at Rush-Copley,
Wilson most recently oversaw the department’s renovation and expansion.
She has worked in numerous nursing and management roles at Rush-Copley
over the last 22 years.
Wilson received her Bachelor in Nursing degree from Aurora College
and her Master in Business Administration degree from Aurora
University. She has one son and resides in Yorkville with her husband.
“Rush-Copley is fortunate to have John and Nancy, two champions of
community healthcare, in their new roles, “ said Barry C. Finn,
President and CEO of Rush-Copley Medical Center. “With their experience
and leadership, Rush-Copley will continue to provide the best possible
care to our community.”
