Silver Cross Debuts New Unit at Multi-Chamber Business After Hours
Over 300 professionals attended a Multi-Chamber Business After Hours
March 9 at Silver Cross in celebration of the opening of the hospital’s
new 35-bed patient care unit.
Members from the Frankfort, Homer Glen, Joliet, Lemont, Lockport,
Manhattan, Mokena and New Lenox Chambers of Commerce and Industry had
an opportunity to tour the new 35-bed unit, which will open to
orthopedic, bariatric, neurosurgical, gynecological and other surgical
patients in April. In the new unit, patients will stay in a 250 sq. ft.
private suite and can control just about everything in the room from
the bed including the temperature, lighting and Internet system
available on the flat screen HDTV system. There is soft lighting for
when patients want to rest and bright lighting for when the doctor
wants to do an exam. Each room has a private bathroom with a walk-in
shower and medical support equipment to monitor vital signs neatly
hidden in custom wooden cabinetry. So staff can spend more time with
the patient, all rooms have a work area for nursing staff that includes
a wireless mobile computer system and a dedicated sink for hand
washing. Each room also has a comfortable foldout sofa/sleeper, so a
patient's loved one can stay overnight if necessary or desired. Free
wireless Internet access is also available in each room as well as all
public areas throughout the hospital.
“This project is just one of the many ways that we are building a
better Silver Cross Experience for our patients and visitors,” said
Paul Pawlak, President/CEO of Silver Cross Hospital.
