Linda Berg, Vice President Patient Services is pleased to announce that medical imaging diagnostic capabilities at IMH is about to take a big leap forward. According to Berg, the hospital is in the process of replacing their current 10 slice CT Scanner with a new one capable of producing 64-slice imaging. The change over in equipment will take approximately two weeks to complete. During that interval portable CT services will be available on the campus. The new Brilliance CT is manufactured by Philips Medical Systems. This advanced technology offers patients many advantages. It will be able to detect and diagnose cardiovascular disease earlier, patients can expect shorter and more definitive exams and it will produce crisp, detailed images of the body in mere seconds. According to hospital officials, a number of new diagnostic exams will also be available at IMH once the new equipment is operational. Tim Smith, Director Medical Imaging Services at IMH said, "This powerful new diagnostic tool will enable patients to have exams done locally that used to require travel as far as Champaign or Chicago. It will definitely make things more convenient for patients and their physicians will get reports back much sooner. All these things add up to improved patient care at Iroquois Memorial," Smith noted. The hospital plans to release additional information on the new CT Scanner and the expanded services that IMH will offer in the next couple of weeks. |
