Sherman Health Posts Quality Measures Online

Recognizing that patients and their families have many options when choosing a health care provider, Sherman Health now offers its quality measures on its website, at www.ShermanHealth.com/Quality. Sherman is one of the few health systems in the region to disclose this important information to the public.

“By providing our quality measures online, we are arming consumers with information they can use to make an informed decision on where to receive the best care,” says Rick Floyd, President & CEO, Sherman Health. “It also keeps us accountable to the community we serve by making us committed to providing patients and their families with excellent care, always.”

On the Sherman Health website, consumers can use a quality comparison tool to see how Sherman performs against both state and national benchmarks and to gauge how effectively and safely Sherman is providing care. More specifically, the quality comparison tool will give consumers an overview of how often Sherman delivers best practice care and follows guidelines for the following:

•    Infection control
•    Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare (HCAHPS)
•    Patient safety
•    Patient satisfaction
•    Heart attack care
•    Heart failure care
•    Pneumonia care
•    Surgical care

These measures are reported because research has found these are the most prevalent diseases/risks in patients. Many federal, state, and regulatory agencies also monitor these measures.

On its website, Sherman will include both positive measures and measures that show a need for improvement. The quality data and feedback received from patients helps Sherman develop positive changes in processes and patient care.  For more information, please contact Michelle Howe, Marketing Specialist, Sherman Health, 847-429-8427, michelle.howe@shermanhospital.org.
