Memorial Launches Phase III Cardiac Rehab and Wellness Program

If you're someone who has risk factors for heart disease, have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease, heart failure or other heart-related problems and desire to strengthen your heart and body, Memorial Hospital offers a cardiac rehab and wellness program to help you meet those goals.

Memorial's Phase III Cardiac Rehab or Wellness Program are supervised exercise programs designed to teach self-management of overall cardiovascular health. The programs address long-term lifestyle modifications related to heart disease. It is not necessary for an individual to have completed Phase II cardiac rehab before enrolling in the Phase III Cardiac Rehab or Wellness program.

Program participants are supervised by a trained nurse or exercise physiologist to ensure any serious problems or concerns are appropriately addressed. Exercise programs include stretching, aerobic exercise and strength training designed to improve overall strength and flexibility.

Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Memorial's Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. If you have not participated in Phase II, an assessment, which includes an exercise tolerance evaluation by a trained professional with pulse oximetry and EKG, will be done before beginning the program. Cost of the evaluation is ; fee for Phase III Cardiac Rehab/Wellness program with education on lifestyle changes and disease management is per month.
