FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Silver Cross Gives ,000 to Will County Community Health CenterAs part of a five-year, $450,000 pledge, Silver Cross Hospital recently presented its third $90,000 donation to the Will County Health Department to help fund the new Will County Community Health Center. "Through the money we donate, we are able to support a mission and goals that are closely aligned with ours," says Paul Pawlak, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital. "As a charitable organization, we are pleased to help provide these greatly needed health care services to the uninsured and underinsured residents in our growing community." The 33,000 square foot facility opened in 2005 on the east-side of Joliet next to the Sunny Hill Nursing Home, and provides primary care and dental services to over 62,000 medically-underserved residents each year. The Community Health Center has been caring for the uninsured and underinsured residents of Will County since 1995 and remains the only federally funded health care center in Will County. Dedicated to its role as a safety net provider, the Community Health Center serves all residents regardless of age, race, national origin or ability to pay. "For many years, Silver Cross and the Will County Health Department have had a long and enduring relationship in providing the best possible care for all residents of Will County," said Dr. Dan Gutierrez, former medical director of the Will County Community Health Center and current Chairman of the Silver Cross Board of Directors. "In fact, Silver Cross is the only area hospital providing prenatal and maternity care to Medicaid beneficiaries. Last year alone, the hospital delivered over 1,200 babies through this partnership with the Community Health Center." As a not-for profit healthcare provider, Silver Cross is committed to caring for the community. Last year, the hospital provided $31 million in charity care and community benefit-including funding the Will County Community Health Center.
