Sherman Hospital Celebrates New Heart Failure Recovery Center
Approximately 5 million people in the U.S. have heart failure (HF) and more than 550,000 people are diagnosed with the condition each year.
A recognized leader in the field of cardiovascular services, Sherman Hospital is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Sherman Heart Failure Recovery Center. In celebration of the new center, Sherman Hospital will host an open
house on Thursday, February 14, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the hospital, 934 Center Street in Elgin.
One of the only HF centers in the area, the Sherman Heart Recovery Center will provide HF patients with convenient access to necessary support services. Nurse practitioners will work closely with physicians to monitor HF patients, and educate patients and their families about HF control and management.
“The goal of the center is to decrease the need to hospitalize patients for HF treatment,” says Dr. Matarieh, medical director of the Heart Failure Recovery Center. “Making lifestyle changes can often help relieve signs and symptoms of HF and prevent the disease from worsening.”
