Memorial Hospital Honors Employees for Years of Service, Andy Nicholson Named Employee of the Year

Over 370 Memorial Hospital, Memorial Care Center and Belleville Health and Sports Center employees were honored at this year’s Employee Recognition Dinner held May 22 at Fischer's Restaurant in Belleville. Andy Nicholson was voted Employee of the Year by his peers and received recognition at the event.

Andy has been employed at Memorial for 22 years and currently serves as the Multimedia Specialist. Andy assists in the development of educational materials for live and online presentations, and provides photographic services for special events, hospital publications and medical documentation. He resides in Belleville with his wife Becky and their daughter, Olivia. In his free time, Andy enjoys being involved with the Media Ministries team at his church and spending time with his family. Andy is also the captain of the Signal Hill Fire Department.

Other Employee of the Year finalists included: Sandi Shelton, registration clerk of Fairview Heights; Susan Wagner, RN of Belleville; Barbara Carr, patient services representative of Belleville; Karren Brandt, Belleville Health and Sports Center employee of Belleville; Pauline Fath, PBX operator of Belleville; CJ Tourigny, Copy Center and Mail Room supervisor of Belleville; David Cashion, CNA of Elkville; Judy Bertelsman, radiology clerk of Belleville; Amanda Rehfeldt, CNA of East Carondelet; Jane Sieron, RN of Belleville and Emma Wills, unit secretary of Alorton.

In addition to Employee of the Month awards, employees were recognized for their years of service. Marva Meier of Collinsville was honored for 45 years of service, and five employees were recognized for 40 years of service; they include: Donna Hull of New Baden; Sharen Rickert of Belleville; Barbara Wettig of Belleville; Brad Dunck of O'Fallon; and R. Edward French of Belleville. Nine employees were honored with 35 years of service; they include: Karen Boeschen of Belleville; Patricia Rettle of Swansea; Carmen Rigney of Belleville; Stephanie Ahrens of Swansea; Gary Nast of Valmeyer; Sharen Guthrie of Smithton; Thomas Hohn of Swansea; Anne Huckins of Belleville and Susan Paulat of Belleville. Employees were also honored for five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service.
