FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: IT’S ALL IN THE JEANS DAY in Danville SETS NEW RECORD
Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation is thrilled to report that the 2009 It's All in the Jeans Day proceeds have once again exceeded expectations, with a record $57,000 plus, in contributions. All proceeds from It's All in the Jeans Day remain in our local community to enhance breast programs in Vermilion County, including assisting women in need with preventative exams and durable equipment, as well as community education on the importance of regular screenings. On the first Friday of October, the greater Danville area saw thousands of employees and students wearing denim with a $5 donation. In many cases, these donations were matched by employers, and matched again by "match sponsors" Old National Bank, Newton's Cleaning Specialists, Inc., and Country Financial. It's All in the Jeans Day t-shirts and scrub tops were also sold as part of the campaign. A large contributor to total funds raised were Vermilion County McDonald's restaurants, through sales of $1 support patches through the entire month of October, totaling more than $16,500. "We are so grateful to the generous McDonald's customers as well as the staff and proprietors, Don and Deanna Witzel," states Chad Hays, vice president of development for Provena United Samaritans. "Just back in July McDonald's raised over $15,000 for our Cancer Center through a similar sale, and to sell $16,500 more patches through this effort is such a testament to the generosity of our community and we are so very appreciative."
