FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sherman Hospital Seeks Photography Submissions for New Patient Rooms
Sherman Hospital is calling on local and regional artists to submit photography for placement consideration in patient rooms at its new hospital, opening this winter at Big Timber and Randall Road in Elgin. Sherman's new, state-of-the-art facility will incorporate elements of nature in its design to help create a tranquil environment and promote patient healing. Among these natural elements, the new hospital will feature healing gardens, views of a 15-acre geothermal lake, and a walking path around the lake. Sherman is seeking works of photography for patient rooms that will fit in to this natural design as it supports the process of healing and contributes to positive patient outcomes. "While many patients will have a peaceful view of the lake from their window as they recover in their beds, we want to offer the community a chance to be involved in enhancing the healing experience by submitting their photographed nature views of the outdoors," says Jennifer Tscherney, Executive Director of Sherman Health's Foundation. "We will give priority to scenes from the greater Fox Valley region and offer recognition for the photographers on the pieces that are selected." Photographers are invited to submit up to three examples of their work for consideration by emailing their digital files in 'jpg' format only up to 10 MB to shermanhealthfoundation@shermanhospital.org by June 30, 2009. Accepted entries will be notified by September 1, 2009. Those photographs chosen for placement in the Hospital must be printed to a finished size of approximately 22" x 30" and mounted by photographers. Photographs should be titled to reflect the location the photograph was taken (e.g. "Fox River, Geneva, Illinois).
