PUSMC: Provena United Samaritans New Women's Health Center to Open

Provena United Samaritans is thrilled to announce that the new Women's Health Center will begin serving patients the week of January 11.

The public is invited to tour the facility at an Open House on Sunday, January 24, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Refreshments and giveaways will be offered, as well as free chair massages, and a chance to win a free heart scan.

The new Women's Health Center is located on the Ground floor of the medical center at 812 N. Logan Avenue, and can be accessed by the main three-bank elevators from the Lobby level.

The Center provides a relaxing setting for the working professional, upscale decor, more privacy, and a pleasant patient experience. It is home to Provena United Samaritans' comprehensive breast care program that has developed over the last several years, as well as other women's diagnostic services. Features include digital mammography, two systems for minimally-invasive breast biopsies, breast MRI, an experienced breast surgeon, a patient nurse navigator, plus two new ultrasound machines, and a new state-of-the-art full-body bone density scanner.

Back in September 2008, Provena United Samaritans announced plans to construct a Women's Health Center within its walls. More than $520,000 in local support for the project was then raised through the Provena United Samaritans Foundation, capital funding was secured from Provena Health, and construction began in the summer of 2009. The Women's Health Center is just one of several components of a larger $2.7 million endeavor that also includes the recently acquired 64-slice CT and remodeled suite, plus remodeling and upgrades that are still under construction in Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology.

"It's exiting to finally see all the fruits of the labor of many individuals," stated Janet Ragle, MSN, Director of Imaging, Cancer, and Cardiology Services. "The staff is excited to be able to provide the best possible diagnostic and preventative services to patients in a beautiful new space."
