for the Unknown”
ISHMPR is sponsoring the presentation, “Crisis Communications: Preparing for the Unknown,” to be presented by The Roberts Group, Inc. at the Annual Meeting of the Small and Rural Hospitals Constituency Section of the Illinois Hospital Association. Sponsored by the Illinois Hospital Association, the small and rural hospital annual meeting draws a broad cross-section of board members and senior management from small rural and community hospitals. This year’s meeting will be held June19-21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield. The focus is on hospital leadership and board development.
Patty Peterson, director of public relations for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System in Mattoon and current president of ISHMPR, said the small and rural hospital meeting provides an excellent forum for ISHMPR to share its organizational purpose and to promote improved partnerships between hospital boards, senior leadership and marketing and community relations staff. “Our message is simple: Communication plans and implementation can make or break a hospital. We shouldn’t wait for a crisis to bring communication front and center, and we should recognize that good communication planning and execution requires a team effort,” Peterson said.
Presenting on ISHMPR’s behalf will be Margo Francisco and Lori Bruss, both of The Roberts Group, Inc. The Roberts Group, based in Waukesha, Wis., provides strategic marketing, advertising and communications services exclusively to health care organizations. Together, Francisco and Bruss have more than 30 years of healthcare marketing and communications experience.
The emphasis of their presentation to the Small and Rural Hospital Constituency will be on coordinating communication and crisis management plans to set forth clear methods of interacting with internal and external audiences during any period of crisis or natural disasters.
